ABOUT ME --

My name is Mark Bradley. I`ve been a

profesional actor for 40 years, and spent

most of my career in the Minneapolis-

St. Paul area. I`ve performed in theatre,

film, television, radio and TV commercials,

industrial/corporate films and videos, print

work, and live industrials. I also taught and

directed theatre at the college level. I`m a

member of Equity, AFTRA, and SAG, and

I`ve been active on our local Equity Liaison

Committee and the Local and National AFTRA Boards.

In 25 years as a writer, I`ve written and edited corporate educational
materials, union newsletters, and a job-seeking manual, designed and
presented media training workshops, and written and performed in
independent video productions, one of which won a national award from
the AFL-CIO.

For several years, I provided individual tax help to performers through
the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which was a project
of the Twin Cities AFTRA Local, and presented tax seminars for actors,
partnering with CPA Paul Mount. I was President of the Lipservice
Talent Guild in Minneapolis for three years, and prepared their
corporate tax returns and payroll. I`m also a graduate of the H&R Block
tax course.

IF YOU`RE THINKING OF CONSULTING A PRO:

My hope is that if you have income from performing and a couple of day
jobs, and maybe a little interest and dividends, you can use the
information in this book to prepare your own return. If, however, you
have convoluted capital gains or real estate transactions, or if your
life is currently in flux because of a messy divorce or other personal
upheaval, you'll probably need some professional assistance. A couple
of points:

1. Even if you consult a pro, you'll still have to prepare! Accountants
charge for the time they spend preparing your tax return. If you bring
all your records to your accountant neatly organized in the format
you'll learn in this book, their fee will likely be a lot lower than if
you simply dump a shoebox full of receipts on their desk.

2. If you choose to use a professional tax preparer, make sure he or
she is competent and experienced. Ask around and go with somebody with
a good track record. The tax preparation business is largely
unregulated, and there are a lot of charlatans out there, promising
huge refunds. Then too, a lot of tax preparers are totally unfamiliar
with how actors live their professional lives.

3. Remember that YOU ARE LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE for what's on your tax
return, even if it was prepared by someone else!

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.

ZORGIUM note to content providers: If you don't want your page to appear in Zorgium's search abstraction then put an exclusion for "Zorgium" in your web server's robots.txt file.
